Osage State Fishing Lake

State Park Information

State Park Overview

Land Acquisition The Kansas Fish & Game Commission purchased 506 acres in 1955.

Area Description The area is being used as a combination wildlife and fishing area. Construction of an earthen dam created a lake approximately 140 acres in size. The remaining 366 acres consist mainly of tall grass prairie with numerous wooded draws and slopes. Soils are thin with rock layers below much of the area. Camping, fishing piers, fish feeders, boat ramp and dock are provided for fishermen on the west side of the lake. Channel catfish are the most fished for species, additional species include black bass, crappie and wiper.
