State Park Information

State Park Overview

Alta Lake State Park is a 181-acre camping park where the mountainous pine forests meet the desert. Alta Lake is about two miles long and a half mile wide. The park offers good trout fishing during summer months. Lake Chelan, with its many activities, is 30 minutes away.

A $5 vehicle parking permit ($50 annual) is required in all Washington state parks for daytime visits. The permit covers use of watercraft launches and may be used at multiple parks and launches on the date of issue. Daily and annual parking permits are available for purchase in-person at State Parks headquarters at 7150 Cleanwater Lane, Olympia, at the four region offices and at parks when staff is available. Annual permits also are available online.

The money collected from the parking fee is used to make improvements in parks.
